Delegation of Border Residents in DC This Week
WASHINGTON DC — It’s a big week in Washington DC as SCOTUS hears oral arguments on the future of DACA with mass mobilizations expected at the front doors of the Supreme Court. The justices will have their hands full as they will also hear oral arguments in the case of Sergio Adrián Hernández Güereca, a teenager who was shot and killed by a Border Patrol agent while he was standing in Mexico. The highest court will eventually have to decide if the Constitution travels across the border with the bullets fired from the guns of federal agents. All of this while Congress finalizes negotiations for a continuing resolution to prevent another government shutdown with billions of dollars on the line for Trump’s destructive border wall.

Washington, DC – Earlier today, immigration experts and advocates from across the southern border gathered on a press call to discuss the findings of a new poll by the U.S. Immigration Policy Center’s poll which asked voters in the four southern border states what they think about the country’s border and immigration policies, and what they would like to see happen. With less than a year until the 2020 elections, voters at the Southwest border are facing a “crisis in confidence” in Trump’s immigration policies.

SBCC, ACLU, Sierra Club Comment on Supreme Court Order in Border Wall Lawsuit
WASHINGTON — The American Civil Liberties Union today announced that it will seek to expedite proceedings before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in order to restore a permanent block on border wall construction using unauthorized military funds. The announcement comes after the Supreme Court temporarily granted the administration’s request to unfreeze up to $2.5 billion in military funds for wall construction while the Ninth Circuit considers the merits of the government’s appeal.
