We need to put an end to decades of dangerous border policies that have violated human rights and civil liberties, separated families, criminalized migrants and have now led to the deployment of border patrol agents throughout the country. A New Border Vision is a framework for governing our borders that expands public safety, protects human rights, and welcomes all people who live, work or travel to the region. Join us.

Do you live in a border city?
If your city is within 100 miles of a coastal or land border, then your city is a border city. That means you and your loved ones may be subject to inhumane and wrongheaded border policies that violate human rights, separate families and make every resident a potential victim of the widespread abuse and corruption of federal border agents. Two-thirds of our nation’s population lives in this 100-mile enforcement zone. Check out our map below to see if your city falls within the zone, and click here to learn more.
What People are Saying
“Berkeley was the first city to become a sanctuary city in 1971, a status we reaffirmed in 2017 in response to increasingly hostile rhetoric against the immigrant community. Residents of Berkeley deserve to live in safe and thriving communities where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, and embracing a New Border Vision is an opportunity to make sure those safe and thriving communities become a reality.”
- Jesse Arreguín, Mayor of Berkeley
“Border communities are naturally beautiful, culturally diverse and economically vibrant. We know our region better than anyone else, and we should have a say in the decision-making that impacts our lives.”
- Vicki B. Gaubeca, Director of SBCC
BORDER MANIFESTOSBCC’s Border Manifesto is a visual representation of what the southern border region is and what it can be. The borderlands don’t just belong to border communities, it belongs to all of us!
